Not gonna let it get me down…..

The cast has been a real nuisance but I have tried not to let it slow me down….

Sharmaine, Sherri, Jen and I went to Meadowbrook Pavilion to see Colbie Caillat and Sheryl Crow on August 12th. My cast earned us entry through the VIP entrance and a ride to our seats on a golf cart. It was the first time I had been to that venue and I really enjoyed it.

The weekend of the 14th and 15th, the Pettengills, Reynolds and Scott & I headed down to Newport Rhode Island for the weekend! I was excited to add this to list of “firsts” in my “Summer of Firsts”! Among other things, we took a sunset cruise on the Madeleine and toured the Breakers mansion.

Later in the month, we went back to Meadowbrook so the boys could see their very first concert- Creed!

I returned back to work even before the doctor changed me to my permanent cast and the kids have been very helpful in keeping the household running (vacuuming, cleaning, laundry, meals). I am very blessed to have such smart and independent children! :) Speaking of the new cast, I was quite horrified when the doctor removed the first cast. I had no idea they had used staples and I could never have imagined how large the incisions would be! An x-ray also revealed a hardware store inside my ankle! Just over 3 weeks left and the cast should be coming off and the physical therapy will begin. I am really looking forward to “normal” again, whatever that might be!

Kids hit Washington

It’s been 5 days since my surgery and I am off the pain meds. Honestly, I could use them right about now, but they kept me up itching Monday night for 3 straight hours, so I gave them up. My current plan is to head back to work next week (with an extra chair and pillows to prop up my foot). Hopefully this wont be too much too soon because I really miss using my brain. Daytime tv and the internet are certainly mind erasers.

The kids are safely in Washington visiting with Uncle Jamie, Auntie Bethany and their cousins. They are seeing all sorts of new and different things and I am so thrilled they have this opportunity to spend time with family they havent seen in 6 years! I am living vicariously through their text messages and photo messages:

The one good thing…

The one good thing about being down for the count is that I finally have been able to sneak in a little time for digi scrapping which is something I have really been missing. I feel a little bit rusty, but I am still excited to be creating! :) I have done 3 pages in the past few days for The Daily Digi using The Digi Files #20.

You can see the layouts full size and with product credits in my gallery! :)

What a month!

This summer has been flying by! The rest of July was packed with lots of work and many fun adventures!

Megan headed out to Arizona to visit with Nicole and they had a great time. Megan flew like a pro, even with a rerouted flight because of storms.

We took a whale watch out of Newburyport with the kids.

The boys & I went to see Annie at Palace Theatre in Manchester. I was super excited to share this experience with them as seeing Annie when I was a child with my Dad and brother, Jamie, the summer before 5th grade was an awesome memory.

I got to meet Jill’s gorgeous new baby, Aiden.

Scott and I spent a romantic day heading up through Portsmouth for lunch, a walk on the Marginal Way in Ogunquit and some outlet shopping in Kittery finished with some dinner at Holidays in Auburn.

Scott took the boys golfing several times and Megan golfed for her very first time.

The boys and I headed to Moose Hillock in Warren NH for a camping trip with Joy, Art, Lynne, George, Amanda, Pat, Marie & Norm! We were super excited for some relaxation in the sun!

I ended up with a heck of a lot more relaxation than I bargained for beginning the very first night of the trip. I was following a little girl and when she jumped off a 3 foot retaining wall, I followed suit. The last thing I remember is the moment before I hit thinking “This wasnt a good idea.” I broke both the inside and outside of my ankle and ended up having surgery yesterday. I am not able to bear any weight on it for 6 weeks, which includes driving, so I am pretty much screwed. The surgeon said I should expect a full 6 months (best case scenario) before I am entirely healed. :( It’s definitely going to be a long difficult road.

Celebrating the Fourth

We had eagerly been looking forward to the 3rd Annual Wall Fourth of July Celebration and it did not disappoint! The kids (and myself) were really excited to tool around on their dune buggy…. something we had never done before! The food was plentiful and the fireworks were fantastic! We are already counting down to next year (264 days in case you are wondering…)!

Day 2 of 4

Day 2 of 4 of the holiday weekend is winding down and I have been having a fabulous time.

Friday, Scott and I did the back nine at Meadowcreek Country Club and stayed for lunch.

On the way home, we passed Revelations in Derry with a sign that said piercings were $30. Impulsively I decided I wanted my nose pierced. I can’t honestly say this is something I have pined for or even given a lot of thought about, but I am absolutely THRILLED with it!

Next, Megan and I headed over to Kathy’s for haircuts (and color for me). I have to laugh when I think about Kathy’s reaction to the volume of grey hair I have. She said she had no idea (I used to color it on my own). She worked her magic and I am back to looking my age again instead of a 70 year old woman! :)

Dane’s team played Manchester North Friday and lost 21-0. You would think the score would indicate which team was better but after listening to the hateful nasty things their players were saying to ours on the field, I am even more certain that AUBURN is the better team and just happened to have a bad night.

I started reading “Change of Heart” by Jodi Picoult last night- definitely great so far! She is a new author to me but I have liked the other work I have read of hers and am looking forward to reading several more on my wish list this summer.

Today, Megan and Scott had to work, so I decided the boys and I should head out for an adventure. I suggested a trip to Boston or York’s Wild Animal Kingdom, but neither of the boys was impressed. We finally decided on Mel’s Funway Park in Litchfield NH. Shayna came with us as well and we had a great time.

I was super excited to get an email today from the assistant of Jerry Jenkins informing me I will be receiving an advanced copy of The Last Operative. I was a HUGE fan of the Left Behind series and am excited to dive into Jerry’s newest work! I will be sure to share my review here so check back!

I also wanted to share that the Momenta Blog launched today! I am so excited to see what the Design Team has in store for you all and I know you will be too! :) Momenta has some of the most creative scrapbookers in the industry!

I am very excited to be off for the holiday weekend! I have lots of plans including golfing (!?), a haircut, baseball and partying with friends! It looks like the weather is going to be amazing! Hope you all enjoy the weekend and stay safe!

Memorial Day weekend

Thanks to the Pettengills for hosting such a fun and relaxing weekend! :)

I’m back!

Thanks to a change in the way Blogger allows blogging, I finally got the push I needed to switch to a Wordpress blog! :) Things aren’t looking that spiffy around here yet, but in time I will be making some positive changes. :)

May has been another fast paced month! Some highlights:

  • I am officially employed full time at Momenta, Inc.
  • Megan, Dane and Dylan each hit a home run beginning a good spirited family competition
  • Victoria attended the Junior Prom
